The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. We are the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers. Since 1949, we’ve invested more than $1.2 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today’s most innovative approaches.
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
In Puerto Rico, in 2017 alone, we were able to provide more than $500,000 in financial assistance to our patients.

Carlos was diagnosed with CML Leukemia in 2008. He continued working in the private company until 2012, which had to take early retirement due to the side effects of the condition. Currently he is in treatment with his hematologist in Bayamón Puerto Rico, he is stable, he gives support in some tasks of the home, he takes care of his "daughter" of 4 legs, he is the number one fanatic of his wife in the hobbie he practices 3 years ago: the running and above all things he has maintained a spirit of struggle, positivism and demonstrating that with faith everything can be overcome. He has the TOTAL support of his family (parents, brothers, uncles, wife, stepchildren and his wife's running team, Wonder Runners). He has shown that the condition is not a sentence, it is one more reason to value every detail that life offers you. With their ups and downs we are united in this fight and we will continue giving it until we find the cure and reach victory.
